The #MakeOneChange challenge
One change. One month. A home you like a little more. Here is how to take part.
- Pick your change. Choose something that bugs you every day, or a job you’ve meant to do for ages. Keep it to one thing you can finish in April.
- Plan it. Work out what you need, what it will cost and whether you can do it yourself or need a professional. Our tips will help.
- Do it. Take a before photo first.
- Share it. Post your before and after with #MakeOneChange. We share our favourites through the month.
Ideas to get you started
| If you have | Try |
|---|---|
| An hour | Fix a dripping tap, bleed the radiators, reseal around the bath, or change a tired lampshade or light bulb. |
| A weekend | Paint one room or one wall, clear and replant a border, put up shelves, or refresh the grout and sealant in the bathroom. |
| A budget to spend | New flooring, a kitchen worktop, better insulation, a smart heating control or a new front door. |
Stay safe. Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Most electrical work beyond like-for-like swaps needs a registered electrician. If your home was built before 2000, check for asbestos before drilling, sanding or removing old materials.
